Tree and Hedge Services

Tree Surgery – We carry out all aspects of tree work:

  • Felling – This is where the tree is cut as close to the ground as possible.
  • Section Felling – This is where the tree is cut in sections and lowered using recognised rigging techniques.
  • Crown lifting – Involves the removal of lower branches to a desired clear height above ground level, either by removing whole branches or by the removal of those parts which extend below the desired clear heights.
  • Crown reduction – Reducing overall crown area by a given amount from the tips of the branches to produce a smaller crown area but retaining natural species shape.
  • Crown thinning – Involves the removal of a proportion of secondary and small, live branch growth from throughout the crown to produce an even density of foliage around a well spaced and balanced branch structure.
  • Crown clean – The removal of dead, dying or diseased wood, stumps of broken branches, unwanted epicormic shoots, climbing plants e.g. ivy and rubbish accumulated in branch forks
  • Crown reshaping – Recommended as being a ‘once-only’ operation to make a tree safe or bring it to a desirable condition or shape, over the whole area or part
  • Pollard – Involves the removal of all limbs back to the main trunk
  • Dead wooding – Refers to the removal of dead wood only
  • Coppice – Cutting back of selected tree species almost to ground level, on a regular cycle normally between 10 to 30 years in length
  • Formative pruning – Pruning a young tree in order to produce a tree which in maturity will be free from major physical weakness. i.e. removal of competing leaders, crossing branches and weak branches.

Tree Planting

We offer a supply and planting service for all sized tree and hedging plants.

Hedge Cutting

Our team will cut your hedges by hand using hedge trimmers. No hedge is too large, and we can work around access problems. For hedges that have become extremely tall, we would use a mobile elevated platform.

For larger longer hedges we have a tractor with side arm flail where access is available.

Our extensive hedge cutting services range from careful trimming of ornate box hedges to entire field boundary hedges. We top and tame Conifers and have a range of modern equipment from hand held hedge cutters to a tractor mounted flail. We can get your hedge back into shape, and with regular cutting, maintain it for you. We are very proud of our rate of hedge cutting work that is repeat business each year. We can get your hedges looking just right!

Stump Removal

Once you have had your tree or hedge removed, we can either apply poison to the stump which would eventually in time kill of the roots, or, you could have the stump ground out. Utilising modern and efficient machinery, we can tackle any size stump, from just a few inches in diameter and upwards.

We have two machines which enable us to do all sizes of stumps, the smaller machine enables us to access stumps with limited access.

When a stump is ground, the grinder is placed over the stump and a vertical blade grinds down into the stump, approx. 18” deep for the larger machine, leaving a mulch. We do not remove the mulch from site within the cost quoted, we find it is best to refill the hole with it, or spread it on any flower beds in your garden. Removal of the mulch can be done at an additional cost if required.
